Person in Massachusetts home after AC replacement service by Tetra

Tetra offers 2 different types of heat pumps, both of which are fueled by electricity.

Central Heat Pump

A heat pump uses refrigeration technology and electricity to provide both heating and cooling for your home. In heating mode, the heat pump extracts heat from the air outside your home, and in cooling mode, it does the opposite—it transfers heat out of your home and returns cool air inside. Heat pumps can be ducted, like central ac, or ductless like a mini-split. Heat pumps offer the highest efficiency rates (as high as 300%) of any heating/cooling appliance.

Ductless Mini Split

A ductless mini split is a smart way to cool a room without having to install ductwork, or install and remove window units each year. Ductless mini splits also have an indoor and outdoor component, but the indoor component goes directly in the room you want to cool. Ductless mini splits are best for heating/cooling smaller spaces or single rooms. However, you can install up to 8 indoor units per compressor for zoned heating and cooling.

What will my new heat pump cost?

Benefits of a new system

More space

Mini splits heat and cool your home, eliminating the need for separate furnace, boiler, and AC systems.

Custom heating and cooling

Older air conditioners can be noisy, especially when their fans start to wear and tear. New ac technology is quieter than ever—comparable to the sound of your refrigerator.

Consistent comfort

As your air conditioner ages, you'll start to notice temperature fluctuations or increased humidity. A newer system cools your home evenly so it's always comfortable.

Signs it’s time to upgrade

Your heat pump is more than 10 years old

Older heat pumps are more likely to have issues and they cost more to run. Plus, technology has improved dramatically in the past 10 years.

You see an increase in your energy bill

When your heat pump isn’t working efficiently, it uses more energy than normal, and costs more to run.

Your heat pump is louder than before

Strange noises usually mean you need a repair or they’re a sign of a failing system. If your heat pump is on the older side, consider a replacement rather than another fix.

Your home is hotter than before

This is another sign that your heat pump isn’t working efficiently. If your heat pump isn’t doing its job, it’s time for a replacement.

Frequently asked questions

When will you install my system?

We can install your system as soon as 7 days after you put down your deposit.

Who is doing the installation?

One of Tetra's fully vetted, top-quality installers will handle the job. We only work with the best local pros.

Will I be charged extra if something unexpected happens on installation day?

No. Our pricing is firm. We’ll confirm the cost of your project after your walkthrough and there will be no changes in price after that point—no matter what happens on installation day.

How does the warranty work? If there are any issues, who do I call? Does Tetra fix it? What’s covered?

Your warranty kicks in as soon as your system is installed. Please note, your warranty is through the manufacturer of your system, not through Tetra. Coverage varies depending on the manufacturer, so you’ll need to check your specific warranty to see what’s covered. You don’t have to pay for anything that’s covered under your warranty.

Many warranties require things like online registration or proof of annual maintenance, so it’s smart to check the details of your warranty right away. If you ever have issues with your system or questions about your warranty, please give us a call at (413) 930-4281.

You haven’t been to my house. How do you know what I need?

We can make specific recommendations based on the information you provided and our experience installing hundreds of systems. Plus, the pre-installation walkthrough gives us an opportunity to confirm the recommendation.

How much does it cost to run the system on a monthly basis?

Monthly costs vary based on usage, the number of people in your household, and other factors. However, homeowners who install energy-efficient appliances report energy cost savings of 25% or higher.
